Who We Are

Growing Portland
One Garden at a Time

TerraBloom started as a two-person operation planting community beds in Sellwood. Nine years later, we're a 12-person team of horticulturists, designers, and soil scientists working across East Portland, the Pearl, and Beaverton.

We don't do cookie-cutter. We assess your soil, your light patterns, your neighborhood's microclimate, and your actual relationship with garden maintenance before recommending anything.

The Process

From First Call
to Flourishing Garden

01
Free Consultation

We spend 60 minutes at your property (or virtually) understanding your soil, light, aesthetic goals, and how much time you want to invest in ongoing care. No pressure, no upsell.

02
Site Assessment & Proposal

We send a written proposal within 5 business days: planting plan, material list, timeline, and itemized pricing. Changes at this stage are included — we iterate until you're confident.

03
Installation

Our crews work clean, communicate clearly, and leave your space better than they found it. Most residential installations complete in 1–3 days. You receive a care brief for the first 30 days.

04
Seasonal Check-ins & Ongoing Care

A 6-week follow-up visit is included with all design projects. Ongoing maintenance clients receive a seasonal care plan each quarter, updated based on how your garden is actually developing.

Why TerraBloom

What Sets Our
Approach Apart

🔬

Soil-First Approach

We test your soil before recommending any plant. Clay-heavy Portland soil behaves differently to the composted loam two streets over — we work with what you have.

🌿

Ecology-Led Plant Selection

We prioritize plants that belong in your ecosystem — natives, adapted species, and companion combinations that build garden resilience over time.

📋

Everything in Writing

Every proposal, care plan, and seasonal report is documented. You receive a complete garden record — useful for future care, property sales, and knowing what was planted where.

Realistic Maintenance

We design for your actual available time, not ideal conditions. A garden you can maintain is one that thrives. We ask about your schedule before we plant a single thing.

Client Stories

What Portland
Gardeners Say

Individual results vary. Testimonials reflect genuine client experiences and are not representative of guaranteed outcomes.

★★★★★

"TerraBloom took our concrete-slab backyard in Sellwood and turned it into the most genuinely productive kitchen garden I've ever had. They tested the soil, built custom raised beds to account for our clay subsoil drainage issues, and planted an edible design that staggers harvests across the whole year."

Sellwood, Portland — Edible Garden Install
Individual results vary. Plant productivity depends on soil, irrigation, and seasonal conditions.
★★★★★

"I'd killed everything I tried to grow indoors before TerraBloom's consultation. Two hours with their indoor specialist and I understood exactly why — I was putting shade plants in my sunniest window and sun plants in a corner that gets 50 foot-candles on a good day. Six months later, everything is thriving."

★★★★★

"We've had three different landscaping companies over the years. TerraBloom is the first to actually come back after installation to check how things are performing, adjust what wasn't working, and explain why certain plants were struggling. Their Canopy maintenance plan is genuinely worth it."

Common Questions

Things People
Usually Ask Us

If your question isn't here, call us at (971) 555-0143 or drop us a message. We respond within one business day.

Yes. We currently serve all of Portland Metro including Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Gresham, and Milwaukie. Areas beyond a 25-mile radius from SE Portland may incur a travel supplement — we'll confirm this before your site visit.
From initial consultation to final installation: typically 3–6 weeks for residential designs. Soil testing adds 7–10 days to the assessment phase, which we recommend for all edible gardens and native plantings. Installation itself is usually 1–3 days for most residential properties.
We include a 30-day plant health guarantee on all installed specimens. If a plant fails within 30 days under normal care conditions (we'll walk you through what's required at installation), we replace it at no charge. This guarantee requires the care brief we provide to be followed. Weather events, pest damage, and conditions outside normal care are excluded. Please see our Terms of Service for the complete guarantee terms.
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade your maintenance plan at the end of any billing month with 14 days notice. We design our plans to be flexible — many clients start with Seedling and move to Canopy after a season when they see how their garden develops. Changes to plan tier take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
Our default practice is organic and low-impact: compost-based fertility programs, beneficial insect habitat planting, and neem or insecticidal soap for pest management when needed. In cases of severe pest or disease pressure where organic methods are insufficient, we discuss options with the client before using any synthetic products. We never apply anything to your garden without your explicit agreement.
Garden design projects are priced individually based on scope, site complexity, and plant selection. As a reference: front garden redesigns typically range from $1,800–$4,500; backyard transformations $3,500–$12,000+; edible garden systems $2,000–$6,000. These ranges vary significantly — our consultation is free and produces a detailed, itemized proposal with no obligation to proceed.
